Co-founded in 2007 by Michael Civin PhD and several colleagues, Rose Hill Psychological Services began as a focused effort to bring affordable mental health care to a part of New York that lacked it. Few practices start in one neighborhood and end up serving communities across a region, but this one has done exactly that.
The first office opened near Fordham University in the Bronx, a location chosen because quality psychological services were scarce there. The mission was clear from day one: provide high-quality care to underserved populations at rates that working people could manage.
Word spread, and demand grew. For more than a decade, the practice has been so popular that it has expanded to additional locations. Today, patients can visit an office on the Upper West Side of Manhattan or another in Mohegan Lake, New York, in addition to the original Bronx site. Each office carries the same commitment to affordability that inspired the practice in the first place.
Dr. Civin’s own footprint stretches even wider. As a senior psychologist at Rose Hill, he continues to treat patients there, yet he also operates a private practice that serves people in Manhattan, Astoria, and Bayville. That private work has been part of his career since 2007, and it lets him reach patients well beyond a single neighborhood.
Growth has not diluted his approach. He accepts both new and long-time patients and treats each one with great care, all while remaining a respected figure among colleagues in New York’s collegial psychological community. With more than a quarter century of experience behind him, he has seen firsthand how widening access to care can change lives.
